Kano Blessed with Abundant Mineral Resources – Commissioner

Kano State is blessed with an abundance reserve of Solid Mineral Resources across its Forty-Four Local Government Areas.

These Solid Minerals include Uranium, Gold, Tin, Kaolin, Lead- Zinc, Columbine, Tantalite, Glass Sand, Bauxite, and Lithium.

The Commissioner Ministry for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Safiyanu Hamza, disclosed on Tuesday at a round table discussion in his office with Sheikh Mu’allim Nuh Bin Idriss Falata from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who doubles as the Chairman/CEO of Da’am Al-Mawasem Catering Company based in Mecca.

“Considering the religious tolerance of Kano and its long-standing history of being an Arabian Sub-Saharan Trade Center, all potential investors in the mining sector will have a comfortable and morally safe place to invest,” he assured.

Hamza on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf also expressed utmost delight to the Saudi Investor Sheikh Mu’allim Nuh Bin Idris Falata and his entourage for the visit and interest in collaborating with the ministry in harnessing the sector for economic growth.

Sheikh Falata who is ancestrally from Jigawa State expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the reception accorded him and his team.

He pointed out that Governor Yusuf had good foresight by establishing the ministry to look after the mining sector thereby diversifying to other sources of revenue generation and environmental protection to enhance community development through corporate social responsibilities by the mining firms within the state.

Sheikh Falata assured the Commissioner that his team would study the available endowed Solid Minerals and Natural Resources of the state with a view to leveraging them for the overall economic prosperity of his business and the State at large.

His entourage included Sheikh Ahmad Sheriff, Sheikh Aliyu Muhammad, and a veteran Journalist Ambassador Aliyu Lawal Saulawa.

At the round table discussion were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engineer Mansir Yakubu, the Director of Environmental Safety, Protection & Control, Sha’aya’u Jibrin, and the Director of Public Enlightenment, Adamu Ibrahim Dabo Dawakin Tofa.
