BELBA College of Nursing Sciences, Hadejia, has recorded a landmark achievement with the grant of institutional and program approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), further consolidating its position as a leading private institution for nursing education in Jigawa State.
The approval was formally conveyed to the Provost of the College in a letter signed by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Idris M. Bugaje.
The letter confirmed that the College has successfully met the Board’s requirements for institutional accreditation as a College of Nursing Sciences.
In addition to institutional recognition, NBTE granted the College approval to commence National Diploma (ND) programmes in Nursing Sciences.
The institution is authorized to admit two streams of 60 students each, bringing the total approved intake to 120 students per academic session.
The approval takes effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.
This development represents a significant milestone not only for the institution but also for the people of Hadejia and Jigawa State at large.
As the pioneer Nursing and Midwifery Council–approved private College of Nursing in Hadejia, BELBA has continued to expand its academic scope and regulatory compliance, demonstrating a commitment to quality healthcare education.
The NBTE approval is widely regarded as a testament to the College’s adherence to national standards in curriculum delivery, staffing, infrastructure, and administrative capacity.
It also positions the institution within Nigeria’s technical and vocational education framework, enabling it to award nationally recognized diplomas.
Stakeholders in the education and health sectors have described the approval as timely and strategic, particularly at a period when the demand for qualified healthcare professionals continues to rise across the country.
The expansion of accredited nursing programmes is expected to contribute significantly to addressing manpower shortages in hospitals and primary healthcare centres within Jigawa State and beyond.
In his congratulatory message, the Executive Secretary of NBTE commended the management of the College for achieving the milestone and encouraged sustained compliance with regulatory standards to ensure continuous growth and excellence.
Education observers note that the approval will not only enhance academic opportunities for aspiring nurses in the region but will also stimulate socio-economic development through job creation and increased access to professional training.
With admissions set to commence in the 2025/2026 academic session, BELBA College of Nursing Sciences Hadejia stands poised to deepen its impact in the training of competent, skilled, and ethically grounded nursing professionals dedicated to serving communities across Nigeria.
