Kano: 80,985 Children in Tarauni Benefit from SARMAAN Azithromycin Program

No fewer than 80,985 children aged between nine and 12 months in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State have benefited from the distribution of Azithromycin under the SARMAAN Project, a child health intervention aimed at reducing childhood mortality and protecting children from life-threatening diseases.

The Primary Health Coordinator of Tarauni Local Government, Muktar Datti Gwarzo, disclosed that the exercise was successfully conducted across health facilities in the area, with all eligible children receiving the medication in line with approved public health guidelines and standards.

He commended parents, community leaders, healthcare workers, and other stakeholders for their active participation and cooperation, describing their support as instrumental to the successful implementation of the program.

Gwarzo also urged parents to sustain the momentum by ensuring their children are taken regularly to health facilities for routine immunization and other essential child healthcare services.

Speaking on the intervention, the Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between health authorities and development partners in improving healthcare delivery across the council.

He described the SARMAAN Project as a significant intervention that would contribute to better health outcomes for children. He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting programs that improve the well-being of residents.

Also speaking at the launch of the programme in Allu Ward, the Health Education Officer of Tarauni Local Government, Musa Abubakar Ali, reiterated the program’s implementing partners’ commitment to sustaining health interventions that promote community well-being and secure a healthier future for children in the area.
