Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has signed the N1.47 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, providing the financial framework for the state’s development agenda in the coming fiscal year.

He assented to the budget on Wednesday during a meeting of the Kano State Executive Council held in Kano.

The appropriation law, totaling N1,477,829,666,131, was approved last week by the Kano State House of Assembly during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ismail Falgore.

The bill was passed after extensive deliberations at the Committee of the Whole and its third reading by the Clerk of the House, Bashir Diso, highlighting the legislature’s detailed scrutiny of the state’s fiscal priorities.

Earlier, Governor Yusuf had presented a proposed budget estimate of N1.36 trillion to the Assembly, tagged the “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development.”

The budget is designed to consolidate ongoing projects while introducing new interventions across key sectors of the state’s economy.

With the signing of the appropriation law, the Kano State Government is set to commence full implementation of the 2026 budget, reaffirming its commitment to infrastructure development, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable governance.
