Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has visited the first batch of forest guard trainees drawn from across the state’s 25 local government areas.
The visit provided an opportunity for the governor to interact with the trainees and boost their morale as they undergo training.
He congratulated them on their selection and urged them to remain disciplined, committed and resilient in the course of their duties.
Governor Bago assured the trainees of the state government’s determination to provide all necessary support and ensure their welfare, stressing that their role is critical to the security of communities across Niger State.

He also disclosed that additional personnel would be recruited and trained in batches to strengthen security coverage throughout the state.
The Forest Guard initiative is a strategic programme of the Federal Government, implemented in collaboration with state governments, aimed at establishing a permanent, armed and locally rooted security force to reclaim Nigeria’s forests from criminal elements and safeguard the environment
