The Police on Friday arrested the immediate past Chairman of the Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado.
Eyewitnesses said the operatives arrived in a truck, fully armed, and allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who tried to obstruct the arrest.
One of the eyewitnesses said Rimigado was picked up at his law firm on Zaria Road.
“He asked them to show him the warrant of arrest or the reasons for his arrest, which they outrightly declined.
“They claimed to come from the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja,” the eyewitness said.
Another eyewitness, a lawyer in his chamber, Ridwan Zakariyya, confirmed that the team later took Rimigado to the Bompai Police Headquarters.
“When we got to the Bompai Police headquarters, we were told that the police team are from the IGP Squad in Abuja,” he said.
“They tried to seize my phone, threatening that they would shoot me,” the lawyer added.
Rimigado had earlier in January been arrested by the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit over the confiscation of property allegedly linked to a national chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but was later released.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kano Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, were unsuccessful as calls to his phone were not answered.
