The Imo State Police Command has launched an investigation after a viral video showed officers in Owerri wearing berets and caps linked to the Vikings confraternity, sparking public outrage.
The video, shared by anti-cult advocacy group Naija Confra, accused some uniformed officers of engaging in cult activities, raising concerns about their ability to enforce the law against criminal groups.
In a statement, DSP Okoye Henry, ANIPR, said Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma has ordered a thorough probe.
“The conduct is unethical and unbecoming of police officers.
Upon conclusion of investigations, the officers involved will face serious disciplinary measures in line with police regulations,” the statement read.
The command reassured the public of its commitment to professionalism and constitutional policing, stressing that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness.
