As part of its ongoing strategic engagements with key stakeholders, the Quadripartite Alliance for Voter Registration in Kano paid a courtesy visit to Engr. Dr. Suleiman Sani, an elder statesman, Chairman of the Kwankwasiya Caucus in Tarauni Local Government, and Adviser to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Dams and Irrigation Development.

Engr. Dr. Sani, a former Managing Director of the Kano State Water Board and the Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA), is widely respected for his decades of service and development contributions.

He was among the initiators and strong supporters of the Kwankwaso Community Empowerment Project, which trained over 11,000 citizens of Kano State in skills acquisition and computer programs between 2012 and 2014.

The visit, which followed Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary celebration on 1 October 2025, was led by Comrade Dr. Yahaya Danjuma Yusuf, Director General of the International Peace and Secure Society (IPSS), Abdulmumin Bin Yusuf, Director General of the Association of Adult and Non-Formal Education Centres (AANEC).

Others are leaders of the National Association of Proprietors of Voluntary Islamic, Secular and Community Secondary and Primary Schools, Kano State branch, Auwalu Husaini Ayagi (Chairman), and Kabiru Muhammad Ja’en (State PRO).

Engr. Dr. Sani warmly welcomed the delegation, commended their grassroots initiative, and pledged his continued support for voter mobilization across Kano State.

He emphasized that civic participation is fundamental to strengthening democracy and praised the Alliance for its commitment to expanding voter awareness.

The Quadripartite Alliance, comprising IPSS, AANEC, IHDI, and Light House-SRI, is working in close collaboration with the Kano State Government’s Committee on Voter Mobilization and Awareness Campaign, chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, under the directive of state Governor.

Targeting at least six million eligible residents within 56 days, the Alliance is engaging adult literacy centres, community schools, civil society groups, and grassroots leaders to drive the campaign.

The visit to Engr. Dr. Suleiman Sani marks the beginning of wider consultations with elder statesmen, women’s groups, youth organizations, political office holders, and traditional and religious leaders, aimed at consolidating broad-based support for the exercise.
