Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has expressed his administration’s readiness to partner with HUAWEI Technology Company in key sectors aimed at boosting development in the state.
He gave the assurance on Thursday when he received a delegation from HUAWEI at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Dr. Idris said the collaboration would be mutually beneficial to the company, the state government, and the people, adding that his administration would carefully review the company’s proposal before deciding on specific areas of partnership.
“My government will work with you, especially on the key areas you mentioned, security, solar system, and education, because they are essential to my administration,” the governor stated.
Earlier, the Deputy Managing Director of HUAWEI Nigeria, Mr. Kayson Young, who led the delegation, thanked the governor for welcoming the team. He noted that HUAWEI has been operating in Nigeria for over 36 years, partnering with federal and state governments, as well as national agencies.
Young explained that the proposed partnership would help address security challenges in Kebbi by deploying CCTV surveillance in vulnerable areas, while also supporting initiatives in education and renewable energy.
“We are going to do so many things that will help the state in fighting corruption, tackling security challenges, promoting education, and implementing solar energy solutions,” he said.
Also speaking, the partnership consultant, Mallam Abubakar Yahya-Abdullahi, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, describing it as a step that would promote good governance and improve the well-being of Kebbi residents.
