Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested a suspected high-profile terrorist during a targeted operation in Taraba State.
The arrest, according to the Army, was made possible through credible intelligence.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.
“Acting on credible intelligence, the troops intercepted the suspect at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area on Wednesday, September 18, 2025. The 35-year-old suspect, identified as Saawuan Wuaiyolna, was arrested while riding a motorcycle,” Muhammad revealed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Wuaiyolna hails from the Ateryange community in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. He is believed to be a key member of the gang led by wanted criminal kingpin Akiki Utivi, also known as “Full Fire.”
Military sources disclosed that the suspect had infiltrated Wukari to gather intelligence on troop movements in preparation for coordinated attacks on civilians.
The Nigerian Army described the arrest as a major setback for the operations of the criminal gang.
