Jigawa State Government has honored outstanding English and Mathematics teachers from senior secondary schools with special awards in recognition of their contributions to education.
In a statement on Wednesday in Dutse, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Affairs, Zainab Shu’aibu Rabo, said the awards were organized by the State Science and Technical Board and presented at the Ahmadu Bello Hall.
She noted that the initiative was designed to inspire other teachers to carry out their duties with dedication and patriotism.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Malam Umar Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector to ensure every child has access to quality learning.
He emphasized that teacher recruitment and training remain top priorities in the state’s education reform agenda.
According to the Governor, more than 7,000 teachers have been recruited in the last two years, over 1,000 classrooms renovated, and 500 new ones constructed.
He added that the government has also provided over 50,000 student seats alongside other critical interventions.
“We are determined to invest all necessary resources in our children’s education, and we are ready to reward anyone who demonstrates commitment in discharging their public responsibilities,” the Governor stated.
He added that the award ceremony would be sustained as a morale booster to encourage teachers and promote excellence in the state’s education system.
