The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) on Monday held its 2026 Tender Bid Opening Ceremony at its headquarters on Ibrahim Taiwo Road, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and fair competition in the state’s pharmaceutical supply chain.

The event, attended by representatives of bidding companies, civil society groups, and government officials, marked a crucial stage in the procurement of essential medicines, laboratory supplies, and medical consumables for the new fiscal year.

Representing the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pharm. Aminu Bashir stressed that the process was guided by due process and procurement regulations.

“This tender opening ceremony is a testament to our ongoing dedication to integrity and fairness. By making the process open and participatory, we ensure public trust and efficient service delivery in the health sector,” he said.

In his address, the Director-General of the DMCSA, Pharm. Gali Sule highlighted key achievements of the agency under his leadership.

He revealed that out of a N1.2 billion debt inherited from the previous administration, about N950 million has already been paid, while the agency’s capital fund has improved from a negative N102 million to nearly N350 million as of June 2025.

Pharm. Sule also announced that this year’s tender process is expected to incorporate all health facilities across the state into the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme, a move aimed at strengthening access to quality and affordable medicines.

He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and development partners for their consistent support in ensuring the agency’s stability and growth.

All submitted bids were publicly opened, read aloud, and documented in the presence of stakeholders to ensure fairness and compliance with procurement laws.

The next stage will involve a rigorous technical and financial evaluation, with contracts awarded strictly on merit to qualified and responsive suppliers.
