The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested six suspects for allegedly vandalizing and stealing electricity equipment at Hayin Da’e in Hotoro, Tarauni Local Government Area.

The arrests followed credible intelligence provided by local vigilante groups in the community. Operatives of the Corps apprehended the suspects in possession of vandalized transformer cables believed to have been removed from a transformer in the area at midnight.

The suspects have been identified as Muhammad Yusuf (18), Muhd Sani Adamu (19), Umar Musa (19), Ahmed Auwal (20), Muhd Yusuf (28), and Usman Ali (19). Most of them are said to be residents of the affected communities.

According to preliminary investigations, the group has been linked to a series of criminal activities, including burglary, theft, and the vandalism of electricity installations, particularly in Hayin Da’e, Farawa Kwanar Yashi, and the Hotoro Eastern Bypass.

The Corps confirmed that confessional statements have already been obtained from the suspects, while investigations are ongoing to trace other individuals connected to the crime. Upon conclusion, the suspects will be charged in court.

Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini, head of the NSCDC Kano Command, reiterated the agency’s commitment to intensifying surveillance and patrols across the state, stressing that the Corps will not relent in its efforts to rid Kano of vandals and other criminal elements.
