Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has assured media aides to the 44 local government chairmen of the Ministry’s plan to organise a capacity-building programme aimed at enhancing their professional skills and improving productivity.
Waiya gave the assurance when he received members of the Forum of Media Aides to Local Government Chairmen on a courtesy visit to his office yesterday.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Information remains the hub of information dissemination in the state and is committed to strengthening effective communication between the government and the public.
The Commissioner disclosed that the state government will soon organise a joint training workshop for members of the forum and local government information officers.
According to him, the initiative will bridge communication gaps, promote collaboration, and equip participants with the necessary skills to perform their duties more professionally and efficiently.
Waiya also stressed the need for synergy between the two groups, explaining that while media aides primarily operate on social media platforms, information officers are mandated to subject reports to thorough editorial scrutiny before publication.
Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Abubakar Haruna, commended the state government for its developmental projects across Kano.
He noted that the association had already been introduced to local government chairmen and is now seeking formal recognition from the governor.
Haruna appealed for training opportunities, provision of work tools, and professional guidance from the Ministry to enable members to carry out their responsibilities more effectively.
