Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved an extra two-month grace period for property owners in Kwankwasiyya, Amana, and Bandirawo cities to occupy their buildings before facing possible revocation.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to Governor Yusuf on
Information, Ibrahim Adam, the extension follows the expiration of an earlier three-month deadline.
The Governor was quoted as saying, “We must continue developing our state, and these three cities were established with that vision in mind. While the initial directive was clear.
“I have listened to appeals from stakeholders and decided to grant an extra two months for compliance.
He then encouraged those unable to relocate immediately to consider renting out their properties, stressing the government’s determination to see the cities flourish.
Chairman of the Implementation Committee, Ibrahim Adam, described the move as a reflection of the governor’s compassionate and responsive leadership.
“This extension is a rare opportunity, and we urge all property owners to act now. After this total five-month window, enforcement will commence without further delay,” he warned.
Governor Yusuf also revealed that the State Ministry of Housing Development has taken over the current Housing Corporation headquarters, while the Corporation itself has been moved to Kwankwasiyya City to bring government services closer to the people.
