Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle involving two key commissioners, in a strategic move aimed at “re-energising the machinery of government for optimal service delivery.”
The development was disclosed in a statement signed on Monday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa.
According to the statement, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sule Shuaibu (SAN), has been redeployed to the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
In turn, Dr. James Kanyip, who previously held the internal security portfolio, will now serve as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Musa explained that the reshuffle was designed to enhance the performance of the affected ministries by aligning them with the strengths and expertise of the commissioners.
“Governor Uba Sani charged the two top functionaries to discharge their new responsibilities with fairness, total commitment, and integrity,” the statement read.
The Governor expressed confidence that both officials would bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles, underscoring that effective service delivery remains central to his administration’s agenda.
He also wished them divine guidance and protection as they transitioned into their new assignments.
Although described as a “minor reshuffle,” observers note that the swap involves two of the state’s most strategic and sensitive portfolios—Justice and Internal Security, both of which are critical to the administration’s efforts in tackling insecurity, justice reform, and governance.
Sule Shuaibu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is widely respected for his legal expertise and leadership in judicial reforms within the state.
His new role positions him at the helm of internal security coordination, particularly in light of ongoing challenges such as rural banditry and communal violence.
Dr. James Kanyip, a distinguished legal scholar and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, brings academic rigor and administrative experience to the Ministry of Justice.
His background in conflict resolution and security policy is expected to provide a broad and balanced approach to legal governance in the state.
The reshuffle signals Governor Uba Sani’s continued commitment to dynamic governance and responsive leadership as his administration confronts pressing security and legal challenges across Kaduna State.
