The Primary Health Care Coordinator of Tarauni Local Government Area, Muktar Datti, has revealed that more than 72,000 children have received malaria preventive medication through a recent campaign conducted across the area.

Speaking through the local government’s Information Officer, Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro, on Saturday, Datti said the initiative is part of Kano State Government’s broader efforts to combat malaria, particularly among vulnerable children.

The program was carried out in collaboration with non-governmental organizations and involved active participation from healthcare workers, traditional ward heads (Dagatai), community leaders, and religious clerics.

He commended the high level of community engagement and parental support, which he said contributed significantly to the program’s success.

The distribution exercise, he noted, was conducted in an organized and professional manner, ensuring that thousands of children received the medication without disruption.

Datti also expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, for his unwavering support and dedication to improving healthcare services in the area.

He noted that the malaria campaign is one of several health interventions being implemented to boost public health in the community.

Also speaking, the Roll Back Malaria Focal Person, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed that the program was well-received by parents and stakeholders, who praised the initiative as a timely and impactful measure to protect children’s health.

He urged parents to continue practicing good environmental hygiene and to support future health programs aimed at reducing the spread of diseases in the community.
