In a swift move to investigate the controversial bail of suspected drug baron Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu, allegedly secured by Kano State Commissioner of Transportation, Hon. Ibrahim Ali Namadi, the Kano State Government has inaugurated an eight-member high-powered investigative committee.
The committee was inaugurated on Sunday at the Cabinet Office by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the committee has been tasked with unraveling the circumstances surrounding the bail within one week and recommending appropriate actions to the government.
The committee is chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Barrister Aminu Hussaini. Other members include Barrister Hamza Haladu, Barrister Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Major General Muhammad Sani (Rtd), Director General, Special Services Directorate, and Comrade Kabiru Dakata
Others are Professor Mamun Mustapha, Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Abdullahi Mahmud Umar, Commissioner II, Civil Service Commission, and Bilkisu Shehu Mai Mota, Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Office of the SSG (Secretary to the Committee).
The SSG expressed confidence in the committee’s composition, noting that members were selected based on merit, competence, and the ability to deliver results with urgency and professionalism.
Speaking on behalf of the members, Committee Chairman Barrister Aminu Hussaini thanked the state government for taking prompt action and pledged to carry out the assignment with utmost integrity, impartiality, and professionalism.
