Tottenham Hotspur have signed Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United for £55 million, subject to a work permit.
The 24-year-old has agreed to a six-year contract that will keep him at Spurs until 2031. Though his release clause at West Ham was £85 million, Spurs secured the deal after having an initial £50 million bid rejected last week.
Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in August 2023 for £38 million, made 65 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, scoring 13 goals and recording nine assists. He was instrumental in their domestic and European campaigns, finishing his debut season with 14 goals in all competitions.
Speaking to Tottenham’s media team, Kudus said he was eager to play at the highest level and was drawn to the club’s size, history, and Champions League ambitions.
“It’s a big moment for me. I’ve always wanted to play at the highest level. The history of the club, and the Champions League too—it all made the decision easy. I’m very happy and can’t wait to get started,” he said.
Kudus reportedly chose Tottenham despite interest from at least six other top European clubs. He cited Spurs’ new head coach Thomas Frank—appointed last month following Ange Postecoglou’s departure—as a major influence in his decision.
“Looking at what [Thomas Frank] has achieved and the talent he’s helped develop, it’s clear why I want to work under him,” Kudus added.
Tottenham could further bolster their midfield with the expected arrival of Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest. The 24-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of a potential £60 million move.
