Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Kebbi Donates N50m to Legionaries

Kebbi State Government has donated N50 million to the state chapter of the Nigerian Legion.

The State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu announced the donation at the launching of ‘Emblem Appeal Fund’ for the fallen heroes as part of activities to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Week, held at the Council Chambers, Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

He also announced his donation of N10 million, on behalf of his family and the Kauran Gwandu Foundation.

The Governor appreciated the fallen heroes for their dedication and sacrifice to keep Nigeria as a single and indivisible entity while urging other individuals, groups, corporate organizations, and the general public to donate generously to the families of the fallen heroes.

He described the occasion as an honour in recognition of the fallen heroes’ contributions to maintaining peace and stability across the country.

Governor Idris assured that the fight for peace was ongoing in the state and directed the State Commissioner for Lands and Housing to allocate plots of land in Argungu, Yauri, and Zuru to the Nigerian Legion in the areas.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Sergeant Garba Hassan-Suru (rtd), commended the governor for supporting and assisting the Nigerian legion.

He said the Kauran Gwandu administration has done a lot for the Nigerian Legion and urged other individuals to donate to the families of the fallen heroes.

The occasion featured the decoration of Governor Idris with the emblem followed by the Deputy Governor, Sen. Umar Abubakar, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mohammed Usman-Zuru, as well as the formal launching of the Emblem Appeal Fund.
