8 Div Concludes Inter-Brigade Competition, Showcases Combat Readiness

The Nigerian Army’s 8 Division, Sokoto, on Friday concluded its 2025 Inter-Brigade Corporals and Below Competition with a vibrant closing ceremony at the Obstacle Ground, capping four days of rigorous drills and a spirited military contest.

The event, marked by precision, endurance, and camaraderie, saw troops from across formations engage in a series of tactical and physical challenges designed to sharpen combat readiness and unit cohesion.

Major General Ibikunle Ajose, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, lauded the commitment, discipline, and professionalism exhibited throughout the competition.

Represented by Brigadier General Moses Udom Ikobah, General Ajose described the event as “a testament to the hard work, resilience, and fighting spirit of our soldiers,” adding that it reflected the division’s unwavering focus on operational excellence.

“This competition is not just a display of strength and enduranceit’s a vital platform for building capacity and preparing our troops for real-world challenges,” he said.

“The passion, skill, and discipline shown here underscore our readiness to tackle emerging security threats.”

He urged all participants, whether victors or not, to carry forward the lessons learned and remain mission-ready at all times.

General Ajose also extended profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O. Oluyede, for his steadfast support and commitment to the professional development of personnel.

He further commended the Chief Judge and the organizing committee, especially the 8th Division Garrison, for their seamless coordination of the event.

The ceremony concluded with the official closing declaration and best wishes for safe return journeys to all participants.

Top Honours after the event were 1st Place: 8 Division Garrison, 2nd Place: 58 Signal Brigade, and 3rd Place: 48 Engineers Brigade.

“The competition not only fostered healthy rivalry but also reinforced the Nigerian Army’s resolve to maintain peak combat effectiveness across all ranks.
