Yobe State Government has awarded contracts for three major road projects as part of efforts to strengthen transportation infrastructure, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic activities across the state.
The contracts were formally signed on 18 June 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Works in Damaturu, with the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Wakili, signing on behalf of the state government.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry’s Information Officer, Abubakar Maikau, the projects form part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s infrastructure development agenda aimed at enhancing the movement of people and goods, improving access to communities, and driving socio-economic growth.
The projects awarded include the repair and asphalt overlay of the Kalallawa–Kaliyari Road, which was awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited; the reconstruction of the Tetteba–Gulani Road with a seven-kilometre spur to Garin Tuwo, awarded to Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited; and the completion of a seven-kilometre asphalt overlay on the Damagum–Gubana Road, awarded to EEC Nigeria Limited.
Speaking during the contract-signing ceremony, Wakili reaffirmed the Buni administration’s commitment to delivering durable and high-quality infrastructure that would support long-term development.
He said the selected projects were designed to address transportation challenges, enhance rural and urban accessibility, facilitate trade and commerce, and improve the living conditions of residents.
“The administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni remains committed to investing in strategic infrastructure that promotes economic development, creates business opportunities, and improves the welfare of citizens across the state,” the commissioner said.
Responding on behalf of the contractors, Adamu Sallau of Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited expressed appreciation to the state government for the confidence placed in the firms.
He assured that the contractors would execute the projects in line with approved specifications, maintain high standards of workmanship, and complete the works within the agreed timelines.
Sallau also pledged that the projects would be delivered to the highest quality standards to ensure lasting benefits for communities, boost commercial activities, and contribute significantly to the state’s development.
