Kano state government, through the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, has expressed willingness to change the living standards of any repentant thug who chose to reintegrate into the society as born again.
The Commissioner, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, committed while distributing Sallah clothing and N10,000.00 cash to over seven hundred repentant thugs in the state, under a peace initiative called “Safe Corridor.”
Comrade Waiya urged the youth to keep to their promises and agreements with the government by dropping their arms, disengaging from Thuggery, shunning drug abuse and social vices, embracing peace, and valuing their lives and those of the general public.
The Commissioner assured the repentant thugs that if they kept to their promises, the state government under governor Abba Kabir Yusuf would initiate programs that will change their life in many aspects.
Earlier, renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Nura Arzai, in a brief sermon, advised the youth to go back to school and acquire more knowledge, both Islamic and Western, for the betterment of their life.
Sheikh Nura Arzai urged the youth to imitate their life style of those youth who Allah SWT praised in the Quran.
The event was attended by different interest groups among the repentant thugs that ordinarily do not mingle together, and the event was conducted peacefully under the close supervision of the Comrade Waiya
