SEMA Disburses N96m, Relief Items to Victims of Flood Disaster

The Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed relief materials to victims of the recent flood disaster in Damboa and Chibok local government areas.

The affected communities included Gumsuri, Garjang, and Wovi in Damboa, as well as Mboa Whuntaku and Yarchida villages in Chibok Local Government Area.

SEMA had earlier provided relief items to 70 families affected by the windstorm disaster in Rumirgo town, Askira Uba local government.

The Agency led by its Director General, Alhaji Ali Abdullahi Isa, had earlier sympathised with the communities on behalf of governor Babagana Umara Zulum and also carried out on-the-spot assessment in the affected areas.

To cushion the hardship faced the residents, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum approved the provision of relief materials, consisting of cash, food, and non-food items, including bags of rice and maize, wrappers and mattresses to all the victims.

Supervising the distribution exercise, DG SEMA, Ali Abdullahi Isa, extended his heartfelt sympathy to the affected communities and stated that the gesture was aimed to provide immediate relief.

He thanked Governor Zulum for the prompt approval and prayed Almighty Allah to prevent future occurrences.

The exercise was carried out in the presence of stakeholders, security agencies, and government officials, including the Chairmen of Damboa and Chibok Local Government Areas and members of the House of Assembly representing the areas

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum and SEMA for coming to their aid.

Items distributed included 1,120 bags each of rice and maize, 1,120 mattresses, wrappers, and brocade (Shadda) each, and cash worth N96 million.
