Police Recover 54 Stolen Livestock in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has announced the recovery of 54 stolen livestock including 47 sheep, 4 rams, 2 goats, and 1 donkey from suspected thieves in the state.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said a 38-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Umaru of Jammel Village, Jacusko local government area was arrested stated that on December 5, 2024, in possession of the stolen livestock during patrol at Babbangida, Tarmuwa LGA.

He said the suspect allegedly stole the livestock from the Nigeria-Chad border area.

The Command now appealed to individuals that lost their domestic animals to come forward with credible evidence of ownership to claim them.

Police said the appeal followed the inability to identify the owners of the livestock despite local information circulation in that regard.

“If you have lost domestic animals in the mentioned area, please visit the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters with credible evidence of ownership for immediate collection,” said Dungus.

However, the suspect has been arraigned in court and convicted.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado further encouraged the public to report their missing items or belongings to the nearest police station promptly to enable the command to facilitate quick searches and possible recoveries.
