The Plateau state police command has recovered 500 rounds of 7.5mm ammunition from a criminal hideout around Bauchi Road in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

Emmanuel Adesina, state Commissioner of Police, disclosed this on Wednesday in Jos.

According to the commissioner, the recovery of the ammunition was achieved through intelligence reports, describing the development as a great success in the fight against criminality in the state.

Narrating how the ammunition was recovered, the commissioner said “On 04/05/2025 at about 09:40pm, based on credible intelligence, a criminal hideout along Bauchi Road in Jos North Local Government Area of the State was raided and an abandoned Ash colour Golf Wagon with Reg. No. JJN 812 AH was recovered.

“When a search was carried out on the vehicle by our operatives, 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition were recovered.’’

The commissioner further explained that the recovery followed a culpable homicide in the area, where an unidentified person was killed.

He said, “After the report of the incident, we swung into action to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the victim.

“It was in the process of this investigation that the above recoveries were made.

“I want to assure you that we are making frantic efforts to arrest the perpetrators and recover their operational weapons.”

The commissioner said the command would continue to hunt for perpetrators, calling on the citizens of the state to provide them with any relevant information that could help in arresting them.
