Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party and secured the party’s governorship ticket in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Pantami emerged as the PDP governorship candidate through a voice affirmation by party members during the primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe.
The Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Gregory Yenlong, declared him winner of the exercise after contesting as the sole aspirant.
Speaking after his emergence, Pantami said his decision to contest was driven by a desire to serve the people of Gombe State.
He also pledged to govern the state with fairness, justice and inclusiveness if elected governor.
More details are expected later as reactions continue to trail his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the PDP.
