NSCDC Explains Attack on its Facility at Gwazaye in Kano

Editor

The spokesperson of the Kano Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, has explained what truly happened at its facility at Gwazaye, Kumbotso Local Government, Kano State.

In a statement on Tuesday, SC Abdullahi said on Monday, 2nd June, 2025, at about 8 pm, there was a phone snatch attempt by two (2) hoodlums armed with knives at Gwazaye, Kumbotso local government area.

According to him, one of the armed criminals descended on an individual, a resident of the area, who was making a phone call to rob him of the handset.

The hoodlums approached him with one of them wrestling with the resident holding a knife to snatch the phone.

According to an eyewitness account, a member of a local vigilante group in the area, while the thug was attempting to snatch the phone, he was overpowered by the victim ( resident), and in the process, the hoodlum (now late) got stabbed in the neck.

The victim ( resident of Gwazaye), together with his three (3) neighbors, shortly after the incident, rushed to the civil defence Outpost at Semegu, Kumbotso local government, to report the matter.

It was unfortunate that criminal elements armed with dangerous weapons regrouped and attacked our office in the area, mistaking those involved in the incident as our personnel.

For the avoidance of doubt, none of civil defence personnel was a party to the happening.

What is certain and for sure is that those involved had attempted to report a phone robbery attack in our office as a security agency at Semegu, but they were violently attacked together with our staff in the area.

The NSCDC never maimed neither had they killed any suspected thug in the area.

It may interest the public and for transparency and fairness the case is now with Police CID, Kano for discreet investigation and further necessary action.
