Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its determination to prioritize the living conditions and welfare of children in orphanages and correctional centers, ensuring they have better chances to succeed in life.

The Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Nnafatima Imam Mariam, stated this on Wednesday during her visit to the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre, Amoyo, and Children’s Reception Centre, Pipeline, both in Ilorin the state capital.

Hon. Mariam emphasized that the state government places great importance on the welfare of children with physical and mental challenges as well as those in orphanages, recognizing them as an integral part of society.

The Commissioner added that the children’s well-being is crucial for them to reach their full potential, noting that the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is a father to all and would continue to ensure that children in care homes receive the necessary support to live comfortably and meaningfully.

Hon. Mariam expressed her delight at the state government’s efforts in nurturing children from diverse backgrounds, highlighting that some orphans have completed their education and are awaiting their National Youth Service, while others are preparing for admission into tertiary institutions.

The Commissioner advised the children on the values of diligence, respect, perseverance, and determination as they navigate life, reassuring them that the state government will continue to support and uplift them to ensure a brighter future.

She further stated that necessary resources will be provided to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the facilities as well as ensure seamless operations of the homes in line with the vision of the AbdulRazaq-led administration, stressing that the state government remains steadfast in creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can succeed.
