The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has conferred the honorary title of KSCHMA Ambassador on District Heads across Kano State in recognition of their strategic role in advancing grassroots mobilisation for the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.

The honour was bestowed during a one-day advocacy engagement organised in collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), bringing together District Heads from across the State to strengthen community ownership of the KSCHMA Vulnerable Population Programme (VPP).

Representing the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, the Director of Administration, Hajiya Amina Sani Usman, described the traditional institution as a critical pillar in the State’s healthcare delivery system.

She said the conferment of the ambassadorial title reflects KSCHMA’s confidence in the leadership, credibility and community influence of the District Heads in expanding healthcare access to vulnerable populations.

She urged the newly Confered KSCHMA Ambassadors to champion public enlightenment, identify eligible beneficiaries, support enrolment campaigns and strengthen community confidence in the Contributory Healthcare Scheme.

The advocacy engagement featured technical presentations on the achievements of the Vulnerable Population Programme, healthcare financing, and strategies for expanding coverage.

A high-level panel discussion provided an interactive platform for District Heads to share practical experiences, identify community-specific challenges, and propose sustainable solutions for improving enrolment and healthcare utilisation at the grassroots.

The conferment of the KSCHMA Ambassadorial Title marks a significant milestone in institutionalising collaboration between KSCHMA and the traditional institution, reinforcing the Agency’s commitment to delivering the healthcare transformation agenda of the administration of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf through inclusive community participation.
