Kano Judicial Service Commission Suspends 2 Court Registrars Over Fraudulent Deals

The Kano State Judicial Service Commission, (JSC) has suspended two Court registrars, Jamilu Ibrahim and Zubairu Sulaiman over fraudulent deals.

A statement on Friday by the spokesperson of the Kano Judiciary, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, disclosure that a registrar of a Shari’a court Department, Jamilu Ibrahim with another syndicate found to receive illegal funds emanating from a writ of possession that was fraudulently obtained to sell two plots of land.

According to the statement, the Commission decided in its 75th meeting held on the 12th of September 2024.

“Sequel to the findings of the investigative committee set up by the JSC to investigate the petition against Jamilu Ibrahim and others, the investigation revealed that Jamilu Ibrahim with a syndicate were liable for their actions.”

The statement noted that the committee recommended that Jamilu Ibrahim should be dismissed from service, however, according to him, the Judicial Service Commission has suspended Jamilu Ibrahim indefinitely without pay pending the outcome of the trial he is facing before a Magistrate Court.

Additionally, one Zubairu Sulaiman, Registrar of the Upper Sharia Court was also found to have received one million naira into his account as a sales commission from the sale of the two plots of land.

“The Judicial Service Commission acting upon the recommendation of the investigative committee has suspended Zubairu Sulaiman for four months without pay.”

“The Commission remains resolute in applying appropriate sanctions against any erring staff, particularly those entrusted with judicial responsibilities, to safeguard the integrity and accountability of the Judiciary and uphold public confidence.” Baba Jibo Ibrahim added.

“The suspended staff of the Kano Judiciary are Registrars of the Shari’a Court Department,” the statement maintained.
