The Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Kano State Chapter, has reviewed security and logistical arrangements ahead of the Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area State Constituency by-election scheduled for Saturday, 19 September 2026.
CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement, said the strategic meeting was held on Tuesday at the office of the ICCES Co-Chairman and Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
According to the statement, CP Bakori assured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful, credible and hitch-free electoral process.
He said all necessary security arrangements had been concluded in collaboration with other ICCES member agencies, with adequate personnel, intelligence assets and operational resources deployed to polling units, collation centres and other strategic locations across Dawakin Kudu LGA.
The commissioner said the police, in synergy with sister security agencies, were fully prepared to protect voters, INEC officials, election materials and other stakeholders before, during and after the election.
Also speaking, the ICCES Chairman and Resident Electoral Commissioner, Kano State, Amb. Zango Abdu, said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had concluded arrangements for the successful conduct of the poll.
He said both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials had been finalized, while deployment plans were also in place.
The meeting reviewed intelligence reports, threat assessments, identified flashpoints and areas requiring additional attention, with representatives of security agencies and other stakeholders making recommendations to strengthen inter-agency coordination and rapid response.
The committee resolved to intensify joint patrols, monitor social media for misinformation and ensure strict enforcement of electoral laws.
ICCES also urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to shun violence, vote buying and other acts capable of undermining the electoral process.

The Kano State Police Command assured residents of Dawakin Kudu LGA that adequate security measures would be maintained before, during and after the election.
