Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday warmly received the Kano-born conjoined twins, Hassana and Hussaina Hassan Isa, at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport following their successful separation surgery in Saudi Arabia.

The twin sisters, who were joined at birth, were flown to Saudi Arabia in October 2023 for a delicate operation fully sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After 23 months of complex medical procedures, rehabilitation, and intensive care, Saudi doctors successfully separated them.

Governor Yusuf, who personally accompanied the children and their family to the airport two years ago, was once again present to welcome them back in an emotional homecoming ceremony.

The event was attended by officials of the Saudi Consulate in Kano, family members, and well-wishers.

In his remarks, the Governor expressed profound gratitude to the Saudi authorities for their humanitarian support, describing the successful surgery as “a divine testimony and a new beginning for Hassana and Hussaina.”

He further announced that the state government would sponsor the education of the twins from kindergarten through tertiary level, in addition to empowering their family with sustainable means of livelihood to ensure the children’s proper upbringing.

“This is a moment of tears of joy for Kano State, for Nigeria, and for humanity at large. We remain deeply indebted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this life-saving intervention,” Governor Yusuf declared.

The return of Hassana and Hussaina marks the end of a remarkable journey of resilience, hope, and international cooperation that began nearly two years ago.
