The Kano State Fire Service has disclosed that it responded to 30 fire outbreaks across the state in June, saving property worth N481.8 million while property valued at N120.45 million was destroyed by fire.
The operational report, released on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, highlighted its firefighting, rescue, and emergency response activities carried out across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State during the month.
According to the report, the Service also attended to seven emergency rescue operations and recorded one false alarm within the period under review.
The report further revealed that five persons lost their lives in various incidents, while three otherswere rescued from emergencies through the prompt intervention of firefighters.
Speaking on the report, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Sani Anas, urged residents to exercise caution in the use of fire and ensure that all fire sources are completely extinguished after use to prevent avoidable outbreaks.
He also advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and discourage them from playing around puddles, ponds, rivers, and uncovered wells to reduce the incidence of drowning, particularly among children and young people.
Anas reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property through swift emergency response, public safety awareness campaigns, and collaboration with communities across the state.
