A political advocacy group, the Nigerian Democratic Working Group (NDWG), has endorsed the nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State, describing the move as timely and strategically aligned with effective governance and democratic consolidation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its National Coordinator, Mohammed Hussaini, the group commended Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for what it termed a well-considered decision that reflects political maturity, inclusiveness, and a commitment to strengthening institutional leadership.
The Nigerian Democratic Working Group noted that the nomination underscores the importance of appointing experienced and capable individuals to key positions to enhance governance outcomes and ensure policies are effectively implemented at the grassroots level.
According to the statement, the choice of Murtala Sule Garo represents “a significant step toward reinforcing administrative efficiency and promoting cohesive governance,” adding that it highlights the governor’s dedication to competence, loyalty, and public service.
The Nigerian Democratic Working Group further stated that Garo’s extensive experience in public service and active engagement in politics position him to effectively support the administration in delivering its development agenda.
It also called on political stakeholders across party lines, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to support the nomination in the interest of unity, stability, and sustainable development in the state.
The NDWG emphasized the need for collaboration among political actors, urging them to prioritise collective progress over partisan interests, noting that enduring governance success depends on shared responsibility and inclusive participation.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic values, the group pledged continued support for policies and initiatives that promote good governance, institutional strength, and improved service delivery in Kano State.
Nigerian Democratic Working Group expressed confidence that the nomination would strengthen governance structures and contribute meaningfully to the state’s long-term development goals.
