Kano State Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, has acknowledged the crucial role of religious bodies in promoting peace, unity and harmony in Kano State and the country at large.
He stated this on Monday while receiving separate delegations from the Tijjaniya Shura Council and Qadiriyya movement at his office, where they paid him congratulatory visits following his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State.
The Deputy Governor, while receiving the Tijjaniya Shura Council, Kano State chapter, led by Sheikh Sani Shehi Maihula, commended the group for its continuous efforts in promoting peace and harmony across the state, a statement by Lurwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, Public Relations Officer, Deputy Governor’s Office, disclosed.
He described the visit as a source of encouragement and motivation to discharge the responsibilities of his office with dedication and integrity.
“I assure you that I will carry out my duties with utmost dedication and integrity, and all your advice will be judiciously utilized for the progress and development of Kano State,” Garo said.
He also appealed for continued prayers for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, as well as for peace and prosperity in Kano State and Nigeria as whole.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the Tijjaniyya Shura council,Sheikh Sani Shehi Maihula congratulated the Deputy Governor on his assumption of office and prayed for Allah’s guidance and protection upon him.
He noted that the Tijjaniya Shura Council has representatives across the 44 local government areas of the state, adding that the body remains committed to discharging its responsibilities in line with its constitution and will continue to offer constructive advice aimed at advancing the development of Kano State.
In a related development, the Deputy Governor also received a delegation from the Qadiriyya movement led by Sheikh Karibullah Nasir Kabara and represented by Alkali Ahmad Zaruk Kabara.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alkali Ahmad Kabara congratulated Alhaji Murtala Garo on his new role and emphasized that what the Deputy Governor needs most from the people of Kano State is sincere prayers for Allah’s guidance to enable him successfully deliver on his mandate.
He assured the Deputy Governor that the Qadiriyya leadership remains open to offering advice and support that would translate into meaningful progress and development for the state.
Responding, Deputy Governor Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and prayers, assuring them that their counsel would be carefully considered and utilized in the interest of the state.
