In a major development aimed at easing the mounting political tensions in Rivers State, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his prompt and decisive intervention.
He credited the President’s involvement with preventing a full-blown crisis that could have severely destabilized the state.
“We are already in the peace process,” Governor Fubara stated. “I want you to thank Mr. President for his timely intervention, which helped salvage the situation and stabilize the polity and the State. Without his involvement, today’s story would have been very different.”
His comments emphasized the pivotal role of federal leadership in defusing unrest and encouraging reconciliation.
Following President Tinubu’s intervention, Fubara disclosed that a series of reconciliatory meetings have been held, notably at the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
These engagements mark tangible steps toward mending political fractures and restoring calm.
“There’s no reason why peace cannot exist between me and my Oga,” Fubara added, referring to the Minister of the FCT and his political predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
“There will be peace. We are meeting.
“We will reconcile.” His remarks signaled a clear commitment to healing divisions and fostering cooperation.
The governor delivered these statements during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement in Port Harcourt, as part of the events marking his two years in office.
The gathering underscored ongoing efforts to promote unity and progress across Rivers State, even amid recent political turbulence.
