The Federal Government of Nigeria (FG) has commended the Kano State Government for creating a supportive environment for prospective investors, as the government has committed to doubling efforts to open more opportunities for local and international investors.

Governor Abba Yusuf Kabir’s spokesperson, Mustapha Muhammed, in a statement on Thursday, said Vice President Kashim Shettima made the commendation at the official opening ceremony of a giant agro-processing plant, AFCOTT GRAINS, in Kano.

Vice President Shettima, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, pointed out that the Company to process 40,000 tons of sesame and 20,000 tons of other grains is not only a food processing hub but strengthened export capacity, value chain addition, technology transfer, increases farmers’ income, and creates more job opportunities, among other benefits.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima commended the AFCOTT GRAINS under the Kewalram Changrai Group.

Earlier on, the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, stated that Kano has been a role model in provision of enabling environment for investments and is always open for businesses.

The Governor ably represented by the Chief of Staff, Dr Suleiman Wali Sani (mni) has said that, Kano remains rewarding investment land with business opportunities in agro businesses and other areas.

Kano has about 1.8 million hectares of arable land but only 40% is being utilized, that’s why the government is aggressive on improving agricultural development ranging from encouraging mechanized farming, expanding irrigation facilities, extension services.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the recruitment of over 1,000 extension workers, the procurement of mechanized equipment, and the construction of dams as key measures to boost agricultural development in the state.

Kano connects producers, merchants and consumers, thereby becoming a focal point where businesses thrive and link to markets as far as Central African nations.
