The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of the ₦35,000 wage award arrears to civil servants nationwide.
This development was confirmed by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in a statement issued from Abuja.
The statement noted that a significant number of federal workers have already received the payment, while others will receive theirs as the process continues.
The wage award is part of the government’s measures to alleviate the economic impact of recent reforms.
It is being paid in monthly installments of ₦35,000 over a five-month period.
Addressing concerns raised by recent reports suggesting the wage award was excluded from the 2025 budget, the OAGF clarified that the Accountant General of the Federation, Babatunde Ogunjimi, never made such a claim.
The office further stressed that Mr. Ogunjimi has not made any public statements on the issue and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fully pay the arrears.
