Edo Commissioner Rewards 16-year-old Student Who Scored 368 in JAMB

‎The Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr Paddy Iyamu, has rewarded 16-year-old Ephraim Oshawo, who scored 368 in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with N300,000.00

Iyamu said the money was in appreciation of the teenager’s superlative performance in the examination conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The Commissioner, who hosted Ephraim Oshawo, in his office in Benin City, expressed the state government’s appreciation for making the state proud.

While praising his diligence and brilliance, the commissioner noted that his feat in the UTME brought honour and glory to the state and urged others to emulate him

Iyamu added that the N300,000 was a token of his appreciation to assist in his education.

He also promised that the state government would monitor his academic progress and step in whenever there was a need to do so.

He reiterated the state government’s readiness to support and promote academic excellence, emphasizing that any academic achievement by an Edo student will not go unnoticed or unrewarded.

‎The Commissioner noted that the 16-year-old student has set a precedent for others to emulate.

“The state government is fully committed to supporting the academic talents from the state. I urged other students in the State to imbibe the virtue of hard work, discipline, and diligence”, he said.

In his elated statement, Ephraim Oshawo expressed his deep gratitude for the recognition and said he intends to study Computer Science at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

Ephraim, who hails from the Iyora community in the Estako West Local Government Council of Edo State, scored 98 in mathematics, 98 in Physics, 98 in Chemistry, and 74 in English Language.

He is a student of GoldMark Academy, Benin City, Edo State.
