Musa Na Allah, Sokoto
Sokoto State Judicial Commission of Inquiry in its sitting on Tuesday commenced an investigation of N16.1b unaccounted Shares sold by the administration of former Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
The counsel to the Commission, Barrister Amanzi Amanzi, while briefing Journalists shortly after adjournment said a memo to that effect was signed and presented to the commission by the permanent secretary of political affairs, Abdullahi Yabo under the office of the secretary to the state government.
According to him, the State Accountant General, Umar B Ahmed Tambuwal, transferred the shares to Sokoto Investment Company Limited through a letter.
Barrister Amanzi further stated that the shares were, however, sold with no trace of proceeds accrued from the sales, part of which he said was distributed to private and corporate accounts.
One of the complainants at the commission, Ibrahim Aliyu, a proprietor of Evergreen Schools told the commission that, he received a notice asking him to halt the development of the plots he purchased from some individuals before the 2023 gubernatorial election in the state.
Ibrahim Aliyu’s complaint is one of the 7 received by the commission from individuals in respect of plot allocation at the new Sokoto city by the immediate past administration.
“I heard from some land speculators that the plots of land will be revoked.
“I also heard that the plots were into categories, there are those allocated before the 2023 election and those allocated at the tail end of the Tambuwal administration after the election.
“The commission should look into my complaint to do justice; I have already purchased gravels, Sand, and other building materials, just to receive a stop notice from the state ministry of lands and housing,” he said.
It could be recalled that Governor Ahmed Aliyu shortly after assumption of office on May 2023 revoked all plots of lands allocated by the administration of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal after the 2023 gubernatorial election.
He assured that a thorough scrutiny of the allottee would made soon to ensure that politics and nepotism do not play a role in the allotments of the said plots.
