The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) on Thursday flagged-off the Nationa Foof Intervention Program with the distribution of 10kg rice bags to 120,000 beneficiaries in Kano State.
The event was held at the Kano State Government House and had representatives of the Hisbah, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), and Vulnerable, amongst others to mark the occasion.
The intervention emphasizes the commitment of the Kano state government and ADF to addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan and beyond.
Representing Aliko Dangote, Mariya Aliko Dangote, a Board of Trustees member of the foundation, emphasized the importance of food security as a cornerstone of societal well-being.
She said: “At the Dangote Foundation, we recognize the challenges many Nigerians face, particularly during this period of Ramadan and Lent. Providing access to nutritious food not only supports physical health but also aids in spiritual growth and resilience.”

“Other states are expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.
This gesture isn’t just charity, it is our commitment to empowering and alleviating hunger in the country while promoting food security,” she emphasized.
Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, expressed gratitude to the Dangote Foundation for its consistent support.
He noted that this marks the second time during the current administration that the foundation has stepped in to assist the less privileged.
“This intervention will significantly alleviate the suffering of our people in Kano and across Nigeria,” he said.
