Kwara State Government has approved the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 school session for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal O. Olohungbebe, announced this on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters on Offa Road, Ilorin.
Olohungbebe said the approved calendar was designed to ensure the smooth conduct of academic activities and improve learning outcomes across the state.
According to him, the new academic session will commence on Monday, 21 September 2026, and end in July 2027.
He explained that the calendar provides clear dates for resumption, mid-term breaks, examinations and vacations across the three terms.
The commissioner urged school proprietors, heads, teachers, parents and students to adhere strictly to the approved calendar.
“The government is committed to standardising the school system and ensuring that our learners are not left behind. Compliance with this calendar will help us achieve better coordination and academic excellence,” he said.
Olohungbebe also reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration to repositioning the education sector and equipping Kwara students to compete effectively nationally and globally.
