Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of persons with disabilities and ensuring that they remain productive and valued members of society.
The Governor stated this while addressing thousands of persons living with disabilities who paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris declared that disability is not a barrier to living a good and fulfilling life, assuring the group of his administration’s commitment to full inclusiveness and equal opportunities.
He explained that his administration established the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities to fully harness the potentials of persons with disabilities and integrate them into the state’s development efforts.
“I am the happiest man to receive such a large number of persons with disabilities on a solidarity visit. I urge you to sustain your support and loyalty to the government, especially as we approach the 2027 general elections for our second tenure,” the Governor said.
As part of his commitment to their economic empowerment, Governor Idris donated N50 million to persons with disabilities and urged them to remain proactive and contribute meaningfully to the development of society.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, said the visit was to thank the Governor and reaffirm their solidarity with him as a compassionate leader who has demonstrated care and concern for all segments of society.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor for giving persons with disabilities a sense of belonging and involving them in government decision-making processes.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of the Commission, Anas Malami Gwandu, commended Governor Nasir Idris for his fatherly care and support for persons with disabilities.
He pledged the support of the commission’s members for the Governor’s second-term bid in 2027, saying they would continue to support his administration’s efforts to improve the living conditions of the people of Kebbi State.
