The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) Samuel Erale Etaifo to Osun State to coordinate security operations ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The deployment, announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, is part of the Force’s comprehensive election security strategy aimed at ensuring a peaceful, secure, and credible electoral process.

According to the statement, CP Etaifo will oversee and coordinate election security operations across the state, working closely with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to safeguard voters, electoral officials, and election materials during the poll.

The Police clarified that the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, remains in charge of the state command and will continue to supervise routine policing activities while providing administrative and operational support to the election security operations.

The Force also reminded all personnel deployed for election duties to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, political neutrality, and strict adherence to the law, including the Code of Conduct for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, called on residents, political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a free, fair, and credible governorship election.

The police reiterated their commitment to providing a secure environment that will enable eligible voters to exercise their civic rights without fear or intimidation.
