Police disclosed that the operation followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordering all operational commanders to intensify efforts toward identifying and arresting individuals involved in drug trafficking and related criminal activities across the state.
The directive, according to the statement, was based on intelligence gathered through community feedback and open-source surveillance.
A search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of the 18 sacks containing 879 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody, undergoing further investigation.
The Command said investigations are ongoing to uncover the suspect’s supply chain, distribution network, and possible sponsors.
CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse, describing illicit drugs as a major contributor to violent crimes, thuggery, and social unrest in the state.
He assured residents that the Command would sustain intelligence-led and community-based policing strategies aimed at dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding lives and property.
The Commissioner also commended members of the public for supporting security agencies with credible information, noting that community cooperation remains critical in the fight against crime.
