Taraba State ranked among the highest-performing states in the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise nationwide, according to records at the party’s national headquarters.
Party leaders say the achievement reflects Taraba’s full integration and firm establishment as an APC-controlled state, expressing confidence that it will deliver decisive victories for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists in Jalingo, the outgoing Chairman of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the APC in Taraba State, Barr. Ibrahim El-Suldi, attributed the success to growing unity and consolidation within the party.
El-Suldi announced the party’s endorsement of Governor Agbu Kefas for re-election in the 2027 governorship poll and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC’s standard-bearer for the 2027 presidential election.
He said the endorsements were based on what he described as the quality leadership demonstrated by both leaders.
According to him, since Governor Kefas joined the APC, the party has worked closely with him to consolidate the political realignment in the state.
“The governor not only embraced the leadership of the party but also ensured that our transition into the ruling party was smooth, peaceful, and devoid of rancour, unlike what was witnessed in some other states. This demonstrates his leadership, maturity, and statesmanship,” he said.
He added that the atmosphere of unity and cooperation enabled the party to successfully conduct congresses across all 168 wards and 16 local government areas with minimal challenges.
El-Suldi recalled that the process followed a historic rally organised to formally receive Governor Kefas into the APC, an event attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the party’s national chairman, members of the National Working Committee, and over 10 serving governors.
He further disclosed that the electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise was carried out with the support of the governor, leading to Taraba’s emergence as one of the top-performing states in the country.
“The membership registration has continued to record steady growth across wards and local governments in the state,” he noted.
The chairman commended Governor Kefas for ensuring that party congresses were conducted in a free, fair, and inclusive manner, with due respect for stakeholders at ward and local government levels.
He described the approach as one that has strengthened internal democracy and party cohesion.
“With these milestones, we can confidently say that Taraba State is now fully integrated and firmly established as an APC state,” he stated.
He also expressed appreciation to the governor for what he described as his receptive, patriotic, and hardworking leadership style, noting that his commitment to the development of Taraba State remains unwavering.
