The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) has carried out an inspection of the newly established Gaya Polytechnic and several other ongoing projects in Gaya and Ajingi Local Government Areas.

According to Sagiru Ado Abubakar, the
Information Officer of the Ministry in a statement on Thursday, the Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, led a team of engineers on a comprehensive visit to both the temporary and permanent sites of Gaya Polytechnic.

At the permanent site, construction work has reached an advanced stage, with significant progress recorded on the perimeter fencing.

Meanwhile, renovation works are ongoing at Government Science Arabic College, which has been designated as the temporary campus pending the completion of permanent structures.

The Commissioner assessed the quality and pace of work at both locations and expressed satisfaction with the progress and compliance with approved specifications.

The establishment of the Polytechnic followed the signing of a bill by the Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, aimed at expanding access to tertiary and technical education across the state.

The institution is expected to equip youths with practical vocational and technical skills, improve employability, and promote job creation.

Officials noted that the project aligns with the state government’s broader agenda to strengthen educational infrastructure and promote sustainable socio-economic development in Gaya and neighbouring communities.

In addition to the Polytechnic, the monitoring team inspected nine other ongoing projects across Gaya and Ajingi.

These include the construction of Neighbourhood Security Watch Division Offices, 5-kilometre road projects, and the first and second phases of the Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida Blocks of Classrooms initiative in both local governments.

The visit highlights the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring transparency, quality delivery, and value for money in the execution of government projects across Kano State.
