Kano State Ministry of Livestock Development has continued the 2026 Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) vaccination campaign on its second day in Kumbotso Local Government Area, with technical and logistical support from key development partners working to eliminate the disease across the state.

The Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr. Aliyu Isah Aliyu, was represented at the exercise by the Deputy Director of Animal Health and Reproduction, Dr. Abdulrashid.

Dr. Aliyu expressed appreciation to the people of Kumbotso for their cooperation and commitment in presenting their livestock for the free vaccination exercise, emphasizing that community participation remains central to the success of the campaign.

The vaccination campaign is being implemented by the Kano State Ministry of Livestock Development in collaboration with the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) and the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS).

This collaboration strengthens disease control measures, improves livestock productivity, and supports the long-term eradication of CBPP in Kano State.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf to enhance animal health, protect farmers’ livelihoods, and promote food security through a strengthened livestock sector.

Dr. Aliyu further explained that, to ensure effective and safe coverage, Kumbotso Local Government Area was divided into three zones: Kumbotso city, Yan Kusa, and the Panshekara area, allowing vaccination teams to operate efficiently and reach more livestock owners.

He reaffirmed that the CBPP vaccination campaign will be extended to all 44 Local Government Areas of the state, bringing this critical intervention closer to farmers and pastoral communities.

The Commissioner commended the residents of Kumbotso for their cooperation, describing it as a key factor in the successful implementation of Day 2 of the campaign.
