No fewer than 1,365 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Birniwa Local Government Area have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the state government’s and the local council administration’s remarkable developmental achievements.

The leader of the defecting group, Alhaji Isyaku Sumburtu, announced the decision during a formal reception ceremony held in Birniwa.

He said the move was influenced by the visible progress and impactful projects executed by the state governor and the Chairman of Birniwa Local Government Area, which he noted have significantly improved the welfare of residents.

According to Sumburtu, the defectors were convinced that aligning with the APC would enable them to contribute more effectively to the continued development of the area.

The new members were formally received by Hon. Salisu Atafi and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Matters, Hon. Saleh Ahmad Birniwa (popularly known as Deplex, Chairman of the House), at the Chairman’s residence in Birniwa.

In their remarks, the APC leaders welcomed the defectors into the party and assured them of equal opportunities and full inclusion in party activities. They urged the new members to remain committed to the party’s ideals and to work collectively towards sustaining development in the local government area.

The event attracted party stakeholders, supporters, and community leaders who described the mass defection as a significant boost to the APC’s strength in Birniwa.
